Nicholas James Whiting, age 30, went to his heavenly home in time to welcome Ozzy Osbourne on July 21, 2025, in Kensington, Maryland. Born on June 23, 1995, at Holy Cross Hospital, Nicholas was the beloved and cherished son of Katherine Elizabeth Rumbaugh and Richard Willard Whiting Jr.
Nicholas was a proud graduate of St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C., Class of 2013. With a deep sense of duty and patriotism, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, completing boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina in March 2017. He later served his country with distinction through roles at various government contractor agencies, holding significant security clearances. Nicholas approached this work with conviction, seeing it as a way to protect and serve others-a calling he held close to his heart, even through life's most difficult battles.
Nicholas lived life boldly and passionately. He was a fiercely loyal brother to Elizabeth Meghan Hall Bay, Thomas Brendan Whiting, Daniel Scott Whiting, and Nina Leigh Rosenberg. He loved his family with a depth and volume all his own, offering back-breaking hugs, wide smiles, and a laughter that was nothing short of infectious.
A free spirit through and through, Nicholas had a lifelong love of animals-especially his dog, Lilly and all the orcas and dolphins-and was recently thrilled to earn his boating license, which he looked forward to putting to use with his mom on the Chesapeake Bay. A talented drummer, Nicholas truly lived to the beat of his own drum, and his humor and wit could light up any room. Sitting next to him in church was always risky-you'd be giggling in no time and probably get in trouble for it.
Nicholas was a creative soul, constantly experimenting in the kitchen, discovering new music before anyone else, and capturing moments through photos and homemade music videos. He was a force-funny, brilliant, compassionate, wild-hearted-and his loss leaves a space that cannot be filled.
He is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
A viewing will be held for Nicholas on Saturday July 26, 2025 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at the Union Methodist Church 201 Railroad Ave. St. Michaels, MD 21663.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to either one of the following 503c Non-Profits that help with Orca Whale and Dolphin conservation Chesapeake DolphinWatch or the Orca Conservancy Orca Conservancy.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Framptom Funeral Home-Ostrowski Chapel of St. Michaels, MD
