Nicholas George Diaz, affectionately known as Nick, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 28. Nick was born on April 6, 1996, in Gainesville, Florida, to Patrick Balkisson Bassant Diaz and Pamela Christina Markham.
Nick's vibrant spirit and zest for life were apparent to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was rambunctious, outgoing, and his laughter could brighten even the darkest days. Above all, Nick cherished his family, especially his children, with whom he loved spending time.
A passionate runner, Nick could often be found exploring local trails or participating in races. He founded the Savage Running Company, a group that united his love of running with his enthusiasm for bringing people together. Over the years, he completed multiple 5K and 10K races, including the Kemah Bridge, Fred Hartman Bridge, and Galveston Causeway events.
Nick is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Fina Syed. He is survived by his devoted parents, Patrick Balkisson Bassant Diaz and Pamela Christina Markham; his loving wife of five years, Olyvia Montgomery; and their two children, Aurora Nadine Montgomery-Diaz and Ares George Montgomery-Diaz. He also leaves behind his brother, Justin Doyle; his stepfather, Steven Doyle; his sister, Sallina Virginia Marie Diaz; and his stepbrother, Donald Richardson.
Friends and family are invited to honor Nick's memory at a visitation on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, located at 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas. A funeral service will follow on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 6 p.m., also at Sterling Funeral Home.
Nick's energy, love, and laughter will forever be missed, but his memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
