Nicky Capezzera

Nicky Capezzera, 80, of Toms River, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025 with his beloved wife faithfully by his side.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Nicky was raised in Newark by Florence (Capezzera) and Ed Weck. He attended Dayton Street Elementary School, which was a source of many fond memories for him, the foundation of his infectious humor, and the origination of his title as class clown. He played soccer at and proudly graduated from Southside High School.
Nicky's life was a testament to sacrifice and dedication. Serving proudly in the United States Army, he was part of the 196th Light Infantry Brigade during the Vietnam War, where he fought with honor in Tay Ninh and Chu Lai. His courage was an unwavering beacon of his love for country. Prior to and following his service, he worked tirelessly as a machinist and setup technician-his hands steady, his work relentless-building a life fueled by determination and hope.
Together with his wife, Nicky built and operated two successful businesses, which contributed to increasing the quality of life for him and his family. His unwavering dedication and hard work afforded his two daughters the opportunity to graduate from prestigious private universities.
When not on the work grind, Nicky enjoyed spending sun-soaked summers at the Jersey Shore, meeting his future wife, Barbara, at the Osprey in Manasquan. He often liked to frequent the roulette tables in Atlantic City, each spin igniting his zest for life. As an accomplished pool/billiards state champion, gardening enthusiast, and masterful host who threw unforgettable parties, Nicky's energy and love for living touched everyone around him.
Nicky is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Barbara; his two daughters, Morgan and Nicki; and his two grandsons, Dylan and Ryder. He also leaves behind his three sisters Ellen, Lori, and Hope "Missy," as well as his nephew, Jason. He is preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Ed Weck.
A heartfelt military service will be held during a private memorial, in the near future. And fittingly, a Nicky-style celebration of life, bursting with the same passion and laughter that Nicky shared with us all, will be scheduled after the 2025 holidays; details will be forthcoming.
