Nicola Di Fiore

Nicola Di Fiore, beloved husband, son, and father of two children, passed away on Friday, January 3rd at the age of 64 surrounded by his loving family. Nicola was born on April 25th, 1960 in Atessa, Italy to Domenicantonio and Maria Di Fiore. He lived Colledimezzo, Italy until the age of seven when he immigrated to America with his parents.
During his initial time in America, he grew up in the Bronx, NY where he completed elementary school, middle school and high school. Since many families from Colledimezzo immigrated to the Bronx together, he was able to grow up in the neighborhood with his cousins and they became the best of friends. Nicola graduated cum laude from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. He would also go on to earn his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state of New York.
In 1984, Nicola's courtship with his future wife Antonella began. In September of that year, Nicola's parents came back to Italy and he was unsure if he would be able to make the trip. After consideration, he decided to go and it turned out to be the best decision of his life. During this trip in Italy, he officially started his relationship with Antonella. He would return to Italy as often as possible to be with Antonella and so their relationship grew. After a few years, they were married in July of 1987. Nicola and Antonella married in their hometown of Colledimezzo, Italy. They had an unbreakable bond with one another, a love that was everlasting. Nicola and Antonella were married for 37 years in which they shared many wonderful and beautiful memories. Together, they raised two sons, Anthony and Michael and provided a wonderful childhood that will always be cherished. Nicola was proud of Colledimezzo and would often vacation there with his family throughout the years.
Nicola started his professional career in Mechanical Engineering with a private consulting firm in Rye, NY. After a few years, Nicola started working for the City of White Plains and completed 35 years of service until his retirement in 2024. He worked on countless projects for White Plains which included firehouses, parking structures and more. Through his efforts he and his team were able to make the city a better place. He created many friendships from his time with the city and his workplace became a part of his family. Even after retirement, he would visit his office to reminisce with his former colleagues.
Nicola's favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees. During his childhood, he would try to watch as many games as possible or listen on the radio in his room. He passed on his love of baseball to his two sons Anthony and Michael. Nicola watched and attended many baseball games with his family including multiple postseason games. Attending opening day became an annual tradition. He also visited other cities such as Toronto and Baltimore to cheer on the Yankees.
Nicola loved cars; his first car was a Capri which he enjoyed immensely. Each year, he and his sons would visit the New York International Auto Show at the Javits Center to preview all the new upcoming models and to revisit the classics. If he was not working on his cars or detailing them, Nicola could be found riding his bicycle through the neighborhood. He would enjoy a long ride through the community with his sons. Nicola also enjoyed walking with Antonella each and every day. No matter the weather, they would walk together and talk about their days. Nicola valued all the conversations he was able to share with his wife during their long walks together.
Nicola is survived by his devoted wife Antonella, sons Anthony and Michael, and mother Maria.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester, NY on Friday, January 10th, 2025 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society.
