Nola Lacour Ortego passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025 at the age of 93. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed spending time with family. She was a wonderful preschool teacher at Faith Cumberland and Kenner Presbyterian for many years and enjoyed volunteering at Our Lady of Divine Providence Church where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister.

She leaves behind her children, Marilyn Dufrene (Gary), Cathy Vienne (David), Donna Keller (Julian), Richele Jenkins (Mike), Richard Ortego, Jr., (Cherie), and Rhonda Anchissi (Jorge). Loving grandmother to Frankie, Pepper (Justin), Ashley (MJ), Taylor (Alexis), Lindsey (Brison), Scott, Haley, Michael, Katie, and Kelley. Great grandmother to Madison, Kellan, Robin and Hadley.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Richard Ortego, Sr., her parents, Philbert and Florence Lacour, daughter, Janelle Ortego and her brothers Warren, Venoid, Oral, Numa and Maddie Lacour and sisters Dessie Dorgant, Loyce Bordelon, and Theresa Richard.

We would like to send a special prayer and thank you to GeGe Simone and the staff of Pelican House Assisted Living along with Southern Grace Hospice for taking care of her. We would also like to thank NOLA Home Care and Inspired Living.

Services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 3458 LA-107, Plaucheville, Louisiana. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 11:30 a.m. and funeral mass following at noon. Interment in Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church Cemetery in Plaucheville.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
