Norbert J. Czapp

Nobert J. Czapp, age 87, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2023 at York North Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in York. He was the loving husband of the late Monica C. (Weaver) Czapp who passed away on April 22, 2017; together they shared 53 years of marriage.
Norbert was born in Danzig, Germany on June 13, 1935 and was the son of the late Kurt F. and Elizabeth (Boike) Czapp. He graduated from Delone Catholic High School Class of 1954 and proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He later worked for General Electric as a supervisor technician for over 36 years prior to his retirement. Norbert was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover and a member of the Knights of Columbus in McSherrystown. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes, and cooking.
Norbert is survived by his children Kurt Czapp and wife Jessica, John Czapp and wife Jody, and Mark Czapp and wife Crystal; his daughter-in-law Amanda Czapp; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Michael Czapp; and his sister Ingrid Luckenbaugh. Norbert was preceded in death by his son Paul Czapp who passed away in 2022; and his sister Eva Neiderer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Norbert's Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Rd., Hanover, PA 17331 with Rev. Msgr. James M. Lyons as celebrant. Following the Mass, he will be laid to rest next to his wife at St. Vincent Cemetery in Hanover. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Murphy-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, PA 17344.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Norbert's memory may be made to the Paul Czapp Memorial Scholarship Fund, mailed to 804 McAllister St., Hanover, PA 17331.
