Norene Jacobson Elson returned to her Heavenly Home on April 18, 2024. She was
born October 19, 1938, the third child of Cyril R. Jacobson and Gladys Nelson Jacobson in the beautiful Bear Lake Valley,
Bloomington, Idaho. She lived there with her beloved family during her school years, except for a short time in 1944/45 when they moved to
Perry, Utah for employment during World War II. Six children blessed the Jacobson home; Kay Cyril, Beverly, Norene Gladys, Max Fred, Janice LaNae, Shirley Julia. They were always a loving and devoted family, caring for one another. For Norene, attending school was an exuberant experience. She valued the friendships made throughout the years. After graduation from Fielding High School in
Paris, Idaho, she attended Brigham Young University. Being an inquisitive child from her early years, she had a great desire for learning. She read extensively and enjoyed poetry. Her ability to compose was
enjoyed by many. Along with her dear mother, she researched and authored a 507 page book of family history. She felt a deep connection and appreciation for her pioneer ancestors. Music was always a special part of her life. Beginning at the age of two she sang for public functions, one selection being "God bless America". Memorization came easily for her, and she actually knew every word to the song. She was always grateful for a good memory. Her many hobbies included tole and oil painting. Sewing clothing for her girls and other projects was a delight. She had a large doll collection, some porcelain that she hand painted and assembled. Spending time in an art museum or library was always a pleasurable experience. She loved to travel and gain new experiences. Norene was a cancer survivor of twenty-seven years. Throughout her many health challenges, surgeries, and time spent in rehab, she maintained a cheerful attitude of gratitude. Her family was always close-by to render service and support. She greatly appreciated the
many beautiful flower arrangements, cards, and prayers. Her children will always be eternally grateful for the most excellent Mother and Granny that she was to them. We all consider her our best friend and confidant. She provided many fun memories and wonderful childhood experiences. She absolutely adored all of the grandchildren that came into her life and cherished the relationships she had with them. Norene and Joe moved their family from Utah in 1968 and lived in various places in California. They bought a home in
Anaheim, California ( 3 miles from Disneyland ). They lived there for 10 years before returning to Utah. Her work-related experiences included being employed as an assistant to the Vice President and the Credit Manager of a large steel company in
Los Angeles, California. She was the Office Manager for four Sales Engineers at Electronic Memories and Magnetics, when the computer industry was being developed for business use. In Utah she worked for various retail companies, including ZCMI. As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she had an undeniable testimony of the Gospel. She gladly served in many capacities, especially with the
youth. She had a desire to learn from the scriptures and Church History. She married her soulmate, Joseph Elson, on October 12, 1957. Five years later their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah Temple. Their sixty-six years together were filled with supreme joy and harmony. Their family was the ultimate gift and pleasure of her life. Family togetherness was always a top priority. She was greatly endeared to her four children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; each one held a special place in her heart and life. She rejoiced in spending time with all or each one of them. The games, music, special videos, and laughter they shared will always be a treasure trove of loving memories.
