Norma Abraham Obituary

Visit the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd. - Washington website to view the full obituary.

Norma Jean (Mitchell) Abraham, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great grandmother, peacefully departed this world on February 27, 2026, in her cherished hometown of Washington, Pennsylvania, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 29, 1930, Norma dedicated her early years to understanding the importance of family and community, graduating from Washington High School before embarking on a fulfilling career as an EKG Tech at Washington Hospital from 1972 until her retirement in 1991.

Throughout her life, Norma was known for her kind and welcoming demeanor, often described as a quite reserved redhead. Her warmth knew no bounds; she excelled in the art of sewing, creating beautiful clothing for her daughters during their childhood, which speaks to her selfless and giving nature. Her talent didn't stop there; she also enjoyed embroidery, using her hands not just to craft but to weave love into every stitch.

Norma was fiercely devoted to her family, embodying the true spirit of a loving mother who listened with a full heart and offered guidance with wisdom. She is remembered not only for her nurturing spirit but also for the pride she took in her accomplishments, particularly in raising her daughters: Carol (Christopher) Marion, Patricia (Donald) Piatt, Sandy (Kip) Cerciello, and Mary Beth Conkey.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Kelly (Ben) Carey, Lisa (Rich) O'Brien, Aaron (Amanda) Cerciello, Nathan Cerciello, Natalie (Cory) Bak, Kevin (Carly) Hamilton, and Andrew (Sarah) Hamilton—who carry forward the joy and love she cultivated in her life. Norma was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Norma is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon Abraham who she married on June 15, 1947 until his death on December 3, 2004, who was her partner in life, and her cherished grandparents, Auto and Blanche Mitchell who raised her. While they may no longer be with her, their love undoubtedly shaped the incredible person that Norma became.

Friends and family are invited to the William G. Neal Funeral Home 925 Allison Ave. Washington PA on Wednesday March 4, 2026 from 4PM to 8PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday March 5, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church (St. James Parish) 119 W. Chestnut St. Washington at 10AM.
