Ann Biel passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on November 1, 2023 (fittingly, on All Saints Day).
She was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 7, 1927 to George and Clara (Smolka) Velker.
She attended St. Mary's grade school and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1945.
She married Robert J. (Bob) Biel on April 3, 1948 and they had seven children.
The family moved to Bryan, Ohio in 1960 and, although they moved back to Toledo in 1971, the friendships made there continued throughout her lifetime.
She loved being a Mother, Grandma and was a friend to all. She enjoyed playing cards and games of all sort. Even the unwilling participants ended up having a great time during her "Forced Fun" activities.
Her endless hours of volunteer work were inspirational.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph (Sharon) and Anthony (Darla Austermiller): daughters Ellen (Gary) Hicks, Anne Biel, Roberta (Daniel) Ball and Jenny (Rick) Wagner, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, son Jim Biel; sister, Lucille Ragan and brother Melvin and James.
Visitation will be at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home on Monday, November 6th from 3 - 7 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church on Tuesday, November 7th at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH 43614.
