Norma Jean Cyr, 94, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024.
She was born on February 23, 1929 in Beaverville, Illinois to the late Isaac and Aledea (Marquis) Arseneau.
Norma graduated from Holy Family Academy in 1947 where she was the Valedictorian.
On February 20, 1950 she married William A. Cyr in St. Mary's Church in Beaverville, Il. He preceded her in death on November 20, 2017.
Norma worked as a secretary for 40 years for her husband's company, Cyr Plumbing & Heating. She had previously worked for Funks Feed, Samual's, and as a seamstress.
Norma was a parishioner at St. Mary Cathedral in Lafayette and St. James Catholic Church in Lake Placid. She was a member of Associate Professional Women's Club, an associate member of Delta Sigma Kappa, Womens Auxiliary Association of Indiana Contractors, and served on many committee's with St. Mary Cathedral and Central Catholic PTO. For many years, Norma and William spent their winters in Stuart, FL or Lake Placid, Fl.
Norma enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, and craft projects. Her greatest accomplishment was seeing all of her children graduate from college because she was never able to go.
Surviving are her children, Jeffrey (Jane) Cyr, Maurie Cyr, Cyrena (Jim) Westfall, and Dr. Daphene (Jay) Koch; her siblings, Eula Goslin and Pete Arseneau; her grandchildren, Danielle (Chad) Williams, Jake (Amber) Westfall, and Jessie (Morgan) Westfall; and great grandchildren, Clay and Eli Williams, Brayden and Bailey Westfall, Eliana and Elijah Westfall.
She was preceded in death by her son, Perri Cyr; siblings, Randall Arseneau, Arnold Arseneau, Margore Harris, Violet Garrett, and Marie Gibson; and her grandson, Jason Westfall.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Cathedral. Visitation will be held prior to Mass from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at St. Mary Cathedral. Entombment will follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to Riley Children's Hospital Cancer Research in loving memory of Norma.
The family would like to thank Cumberland Pointe and Franciscan Hospice for their excellent care of Norma.
