Norma Jean Hecox, 94, ascended to her heavenly home on Monday, August 19, 2024. She was born on November 25, 1929, in Nixa, Missouri to Seymour and Lucretia McConnell and was one of five siblings. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Norma's family brought her immense happiness alongside sharing her musical talents and hosting delightful gatherings filled with laughter and joy. She enjoyed golf and was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed cooking and always looked forward to Sunday dinners with family. Her strong faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she loved the Lord deeply. Preceded in death by her husband, Dale F. Hecox; parents, Seymour F. and Lucretia "Crete" McConnell; sisters, Rayma Young, Glenna Frazier, Elva Lee Gwaltney; and brother, Carl McConnell.
Survived by her children, Kathy (Ed) Faries of Bermuda, Stephen (Melvina) Hecox of Wichita, Pam (Duane) Ball of Wichita; Greg (Steffanie) Hecox of Wichita; grandchildren, Garrett and Jenny Faries of Bermuda, Chris (Katie) Hecox of Wichita, Sarah Frick of Wichita, Tom (Melissa) Hecox of Tinmath, Colorado, Josh (Ashley) Ball of Wichita, Zach (Stephanie) Ball of Olathe, Kansas, Hannah Hecox of Wichita; Arthur and Annie Eby of Wichita; Zoe (Shane) Evans of Victor, Idaho; twelve great-grandchildren; other beloved family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Central Community Church Chapel, 6100 W Maple, Wichita, KS 67209. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Services in care of Downing &; Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.
