Norma Carol Ludy, 82 (almost 83), of Oxford, MI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Norma was born on October 11, 1942, to the late Rev. Walter C. & Ida R. (Dyer) Ballagh in Pontiac, MI. She is survived by her sister, Millie (Rev. Bruce) Benson. She was preceded in death by her brother, David (Sylvia) Ballagh, and her sister, Evelyn (Ed) Kolbe. After graduating from Lake Orion High School in 1960, she furthered her education at Taylor University (Indiana) and Michigan State University - Oakland (now OU).
Norma began her professional life in school administration, eventually dedicating many years as the secretary to the principal at Hamlin Elementary School in Rochester before stepping away to become a devoted stay-at-home mom. Her organizational skills and dedication to her church community were consistently put to use in various church office support roles and extensive volunteer work with children's ministries, including AWANA Clubs. An accomplished artisan, she taught Home Economics at Oxford Christian Academy and later shared her expertise as a sewing instructor for Husqvarna Viking at Jo-Ann Fabrics. She even achieved national recognition when she ranked fourth in the nation for teaching and sales with Creative Circle. Alongside her professional life, she exemplified selflessness by providing lifelong care for multiple senior family members and church members, including her parents, in-laws, aunts, and uncles. She and Ron also loved managing the annual Bob Milne Michigan Ragtime Retreat for many years. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She treasured her role as mother and grandmother. She frequently babysat her grandchildren, drove them to activities, and patiently taught them her craft skills. As a great-grandmother, her favorite game to play with her great-grandchildren was peek-a-boo. Her legacy is one of unwavering faith, tireless service, and the loving demonstration of her many talents.
Norma was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ronald C. Ludy, with whom she was married for 57 years. She is survived by her three loving children, Rose (the late Jeffrey) Turner, Ruth (Michael) Joslyn, and Roger (Danielle DeCormier) Ludy. Her seven granddaughters and their husbands affectionately admired her: Victoria and Ryan Zoschnick, Natalia and Samuel Hoon, Amelia and Andrew Ice, Sophia Turner, Cora and Jack Risma, Ella and Travis Crawford, and Lila Joslyn. She thoroughly adored her three great-grandchildren: Drew, Ada, and Ellie. She was an incredibly kind and loving daughter, sister, niece, wife, mom, mother-in-law, grammie, great-grammie, aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt.
For those of us left behind, our hearts are forever impacted by her legacy and her dedication to God. She will be deeply missed.
