Norma Over Matney, 92, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025. She was born in New Castle, Indiana, November 6, 1932, the daughter of Harold and Ina Over and was a graduate of New Castle High School. She had attended New Lisbon Christian Church.
She had worked as a homemaker, sharing her excellent cooking and baking skills with all of her loved ones. She also hosted many birthday and holiday parties for family and the children her daughter, Pam, babysat.
Survivors are her children; Pamela Matney of Muncie, Penny Thompson (LeRoy) of Defiance, Ohio, three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; good friends, Brad Golden, the Spanglers and the McKinneys.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Myron Matney, and her siblings Vivian Johnson, Donald Over, and Fred Over.
Special thanks to Emily Spangler Hedges and the law firm of McKinney and Co. for handling aspects of her care as well as the staff of the Waters of Middletown and Heart to Heart Hospice. Recognition also goes to daughter, Pam Matney, for the many years of caregiving done for Norma at home before her stay in the nursing home.
There will be graveside services at 1:00pm Monday, September 22, 2025 at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition in New Castle, Indiana with Phillip Rogers officiating . Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. You may express condolences or share memories of Norma at www.ballardandsons.com.
