Norma Mae Nofsinger, 91, of
Rossville, Georgia, went to be with the lord on September 10, 2025. She was born on June 30, 1934, in Akron, Ohio, and lived a remarkable life defined by grace, strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to others.
Norma was the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Vitula M. Nofsinger. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother, Gordon H. Nofsinger.
She dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse anesthetist, a profession that perfectly reflected her steady hands and gentle spirit. To Norma, her work was never just a career-it was a calling. Even after her retirement, she continued giving back to her community in meaningful ways that touched countless lives.
One of her greatest joys was her lifelong friendship with Sara Hoover. Together, the two shared a bond as deep as family. Their generosity will live on through their contributions to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where they helped fund archeology grants that will inspire and educate generations to come. Though Sara passed in 2021, those who knew them can imagine the two now joyfully reunited with Mary and Jim White, and Frieda Eaves-their laughter echoing once again.
In her later years, Norma was surrounded by a devoted circle of caregivers and friends who ensured she was never alone. Micheal Sowder and Rachel Moon cared for her with devotion, love, and patience. Alongside them, Rhonda & Allen Arnold, Sharon and Kerry Carver, Caidence Moon, Chellcey Sowder, Kaleb Sowder, John & Peyton Arnold, and Tiffany Rich brought her companionship, joy, and comfort. To them, Norma was not simply someone to look after-she was family.
Norma's 91 years remind us that a life well-lived is not measured only in years, but in the love, kindness, and legacy one leaves behind. She was a daughter, sister, nurse, mentor, and friend. She gave more than she received, always striving to leave the world a better place.
While her passing brings sorrow, we also celebrate her life with gratitude. We give thanks for her generosity, her wisdom, her example, and the laughter and love she so freely shared.
May her spirit live on in all of us as we continue her legacy of compassion, service, and cherishing those we hold dear-just as Norma cherished each of us.
