Norma Pelling

Norma passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 83. She was a loving, giving person and will be missed by many. Norma was the wife of the late Robert Pelling, and is survived by loving family members, Maria (J.C.) Lippert, Peter (Rita) Kerr, Patrick (Susan) Pelling, Daniel (Cathleen) Pelling, and Thomas (Sara) Pelling. She was a dear grandmother to Anthony (Sarah) Haynes, Emily (Bill) Caldwell, Elisa Klewinski, Daniella Kerr, Elizabeth Kerr, Patricia (Joe) Bellantonio, Bridget (Geoff) Wilson, Robert (Jacqueline) Pelling, Stephanie (Tyler) Pinkerton, Shane Pelling, Erin Moore, Robin (Jason) Stawkey, Haley (Isaac) O'Pry, Jennifer Logan, and Warren Kuhlman. She was a fond great-grandmother to Brandon, Nicole, Kylie, Aiden, Brayden, Austin, Sophia, Ethan, Kyleena-Rose, Ava, Lilith, Madison, Caleb, Aurora, Isiah, Bennett, and Jaylene. She was preceded in death by her former husband Emil Kerr, her brother Nelson Fiori, the late Michael Pelling and the late Catherine (Jeff) Woodson.

Norma worked much of her career at and retired from Bell Laboratories in Naperville, Illinois, which is now part of Nokia. Norma was a stage actor early in her life and her past hobbies included being a member of a local theater group where she enjoyed singing and dancing. Norma once owned a small resale shop consisting mostly of vintage costume jewelry and along with her husband Robert, she had operated a small flea market near Indiana Beach during the summer months. Norma loved the ocean and spending time near her birthplace on her beloved Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro, while visiting family and friends.

Memorial Visitation will be Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Avenue, Darien. Interment Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
