Norma G. Pyle

Norma G. Pyle, 88, of Bedford, died on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at UPMC Bedford Hospital. She was born on March 27, 1935 in Cumberland, MD, a daughter of the late Frank J. and Sarah B. (Beatty) Gloor. On June 16, 1957 in Bedford, she married Joel W. Pyle and together they shared 65 years of marriage and he survives along with the following family: a daughter Andrea Mueller and husband Bruce of Bedford; two sons: Gregory Pyle of Steamboat Springs, CO; and Kirk Pyle and wife Kelly of Bedford; eight grandchildren: Ryan, Erin, Katie, Kellie, Gus, Sophia, Eden, and Preston; and a great-granddaughter Ruby.
Norma graduated from Bedford High School in 1953. She attended Penn State University and majored in Music and Early Childhood Education. She spent most of her career employed by Bedford Area School District and with the inception of the gifted education program, she helped establish the 3rd grade curriculum. She had a deep passion for children, music, and cultivating young minds. To her delight many former students kept in contact with her. Norma was a lifelong member and participated as a youth group leader, junior choir director and organist at the Bedford Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted wife, a proud mother and grandmother and was generous, humble, and kind spirit.
