Norma Record Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eaton Funeral Home & Cremation Center - Main Chapel on Feb. 19, 2025.
Norma Darlene Record, 91, of Stanton, MO, a treasured soul known for her kindness and creativity, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the Gasconade Manor in Owensville, Missouri. Born on December 20, 1933, at her family home in rural Bourbon, Missouri, to Charles and Frieda (Wright) Simmerly.
Norma's early years were spent in the countryside near Bourbon, where she attended a country school and learned the values that would guide her throughout her life. In 1952, she married William B. Record, and together they were blessed with four children: William N., Darla, Keith, and Tina. Norma, alongside William, raised their family in Bourbon.
Throughout her life, Norma was industrious and dedicated, working for Paramount Cap & Apparel as well as Brown Shoe Co. Her career was marked by the same dedication she devoted to her family, and she continued to contribute her talents to the workforce until her retirement in the 1970s.
Norma's prowess in the kitchen was legendary. She was an extremely talented cook who relished the opportunity to prepare meals for family and friends. Her culinary gifts, a legacy passed down from generation to generation, were a testament to her belief in the power of food to bring people together. Norma's hospitable nature ensured that no one in need of a meal ever left her table hungry.
Her love for gardening and canning was an extension of her nurturing personality, and the fruits of her labor were shared generously. She was also very fond of teapots and her collection was extraordinary and meaningful to her. Norma's artistic talents were manifold; she loved painting and sewing, often creating beautiful clothing for herself and her family, including special occasion dresses for her granddaughters. Her hand-painted pictures were cherished gifts that her grandchildren treasured.
Norma is survived by her beloved children: William Record and wife, Teresa of Stanton, MO, Darla Feese and husband, Jim, Keith Record and wife, Jerri all of Bourbon, MO, and Tina Voss and husband, Don of Sullivan, MO; 8 grandchildren: William Record and wife, Brandi of Bourbon, MO, Ryan Record and wife, Nikki of Sullivan, MO, Amy Feese of Wildwood, MO, Charlie Feese and wife, Eva of Colorado, Jarod Record and wife, Rachel of Bourbon, MO, Jill Record and spouse, Stacy of Sullivan, MO, Karen Ruwwe and husband, Matt of Springfield, MO and Laura Bryan and husband, Kevin of Sullivan, MO; 21 great-grandchildren: Brayden, Isabelle, Sophia, Samantha, Brianna, Will, Lilah, Abigail, Allison, Lilly, Thatcher, Wyatt, Kate, Pearl, Kelby, Marshall, Holden, Madi, Kaleb, Drew, & Jacob; a brother, Garrell Simmerly and wife, Alene of Bourbon, MO; two sisters: Marie Vance and husband, Ray of Bourbon, MO and Irene Boner of Nashville, TN; a special niece, Rhonda; and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Record; a grandson, Jim Feese II; a great-granddaughter, Claire Calvin; her parents, Charles and Frieda Simmerly; three brothers: Robert Simmerly, Leo Simmerly and Vernon Simmerly; and a sister, Shirley Avery.
