Norma Ruth Richardson, age 75, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, formerly of Jewell Ridge, VA, was escorted by angels to her Heavenly home on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
She was born on August 11, 1948, in Tazewell County, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Albert Columbus Jewell and Ada Norrine Nelson Jewell.
Norma was a lifelong resident of the area and was the former owner and operator of Big Al's Dragway in Cedar Bluff, Virginia. She enjoyed crocheting blankets and washing clothes. She had a genuine love for all of her animals; her special animal was Lensey; and she loved her chickens. She loved to play bingo and hang out with her family and friends. To her children, grandchildren, family, and friends, she was known as Ruth and Ma Maw, Ruthie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Bryan Scott Payne; aunt, Yuvonne Lamb; infant brother, Harold Gene Jewell; and a special friend, Virginia Phipps.

Great Grandchildren: Ava Osborne, Lainey Osborne, Raelynn Mason, Easton Mason, Emma Stiltner, Braxton Patrick, Harper Patrick, Hadley Patrick, Carter Patterson, Walker Patterson, Colton Patterson, and Savannah Patterson
Sisters: Carolyn Pyles and husband, Harold "Gomer" Pyles; Hilda Garrido; Clara Jewell
Brother, Wayne Jewell and wife, Melissa
Several nieces and nephews also survive along with a host of family and friends.
The family of Norma would like to give a special thank you to her special caregivers, Cheyenne Fields, Montana Fields, Shania Fields, Brittany Abel, Jacquelyn Patterson. Mom's right hand was Cheyenne "Sis" Fields and to her nurse at Legacy Hospice, Becky Walters.
Funeral services for Norma Ruth Richardson will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Rev. Lonnie Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Richardson Family Cemetery in Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Montana Fields, Jack Fields, Brandon Osborne, Wesley Baldwin, Cody Patterson, Michael Abel, Braxton Patrick, Zack Patrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Gomer Pyles, Jimmy Perkins, Mike Wingo, Ed Cole, Rex Cole, Eric Brooks, and Neil Jones. The Richardson family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
