Norma Jean (Bocash) Standring, 78, longtime Charlton resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2025, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves her soulmate and beloved husband of 58 years, Alan M. Standring; her devoted children, Lori Donnelly and her husband RJ of North Oxford, Jeffrey Standring of Charlton, and Jimmy Standring and his wife Jennifer of Dudley; her cherished grandchildren, Gage Donnelly of Charlton, AJ Standring of Dudley, Olivia Weinstein and her husband Gregory of Natick, and Emily Standring and her fiancé John Travers of South Yarmouth; along with several loving nieces, nephews, friends, and her special canine companion, Rosie. Norma was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Thomas, and her cousin, Charlene Fogarty, who was like a sister to them.
Norma was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Ekberg) Bocash. She was raised and educated in Auburn, and graduated with Auburn High School's Class of 1964. Norma worked for New England Telephone, retiring from Bell Atlantic at age 52.
In her free time, she loved golfing, going to the movies, going out to lunch, and was an avid reader of Stephen King novels. Above all, Norma cherished time spent with her family, whether she was taking a long walk along Old Orchard Beach with her love, Alan, or playing with her grandchildren when they were small. She was their biggest fan, rooting for them in all their endeavors in life.
Norma will be greatly missed, but her legacy and loving spirit will live on.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the wonderful angels at VNA Hospice or to support cancer research.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Standring family between 9:30 – 11 AM on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, with a prayer service beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow at West Ridge Cemetery in Charlton.

I worked with Norma many years ago at Verizon in Marlboro. Wonderful sweet lady, always with a smile. She was part of our little retiree group that met once a month at Panera in Millbury. It was so nice to reconnect with the girls from Ma Bell and great to get to know Norma better. I will truly miss her and my prayers are with her and her family. God Bless

We enjoyed so so many wonderful times together but one of our favorites was going to lunch at the Windjammer. The sun was shining brightly with the warm summer breeze off the ocean. It will always be a treasured memory. Norma Jean you'll always be in our thoughts and forever in our hearts!!!
