Norma Whyte Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boulding Mortuary, Inc. on Feb. 11, 2026.
Norma Jean Whyte was born on July 9, 1934, in York, Pennsylvania, to George Maxwell and Bernice (Sexton) Hopkins. A devoted woman of faith, Norma was peacefully received by the angels in Heaven on February 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Raised in a very large household as the eldest of her siblings, Norma learned early the true meaning of family and the importance of caring for others. These lessons shaped the woman she became and remained with her throughout her long and beautiful life, radiating through her spirit and actions.

Norma was educated in the City of York School District and received her certificate of achievement in child development. She dedicated her professional life to nurturing young minds, serving as a child-care teacher at West Grove Daycare. Her deep love for children was evident in her patience, compassion, and unwavering commitment to their growth and well-being.

Norma was united in marriage to her first husband, Walter Wade Moulden, on New Year's Day in 1963. The couple resided in West Grove until Walter succumbed to a lengthy illness. Though deeply grieved, Norma pressed forward, placing her full faith and trust in the Lord. God later blessed her with two of her greatest gifts: her children, Alan Wade Moulden and Natosha Lynette Moulden.

In 1979, Norma married her beloved husband, Pastor Carl C. Whyte. She faithfully served as First Lady of Wheatfield Church of the Living God for over 25 years. Norma poured herself into the life of the church, serving in various roles and always willing to lend a helping hand wherever there was a need. Her generosity, humility, and unwavering commitment to God were evident in how she lived each day.

Norma was an avid student of the Word of God, not only embracing His teachings but living them out daily. Through her life, she quietly yet powerfully showed others the way to the Lord by example. One could often find her working on a word puzzle or immersed in scripture. She found joy in reading her Bible, bowling, music, and singing. Among her favorite hymns were "I Surrender All," "There's a Tree on Each Side of the River," and "Blessed Assurance."

Norma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pastor Carl C. Whyte; her son, Alan Wade Moulden; her parents, George M. Hopkins and Bernice Hopkins; her sister, Joanne Hopkins; and her brothers, George M. Hopkins Jr., Larry Hopkins, Sr., Anthony Hopkins, Deacon Curtis R. Hopkins, and Robert Simon.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted daughter, Natosha Lynette (James) Montgomery; her grandchildren, Tatiana Montgomery, Aaliyah Montgomery, Jasmine Montgomery, James Montgomery, John Montgomery, Myniah Montgomery, Alan Pettigrew, Alan Eborn, James Eborn, Tanisha, Jazmin Zimmerman, and Dayvon Moulden; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Phyllis (James) Hawkins, Gail (Malcolm) Addison, Sarah (Leroy) Atwater, Linda Hopkins, and Maryanne Wattley; her sisters-in-law, Bishop Ivy Ann Hopkins and Elder Barbara Hopkins; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and her beloved church family.
