Norman Broadsword Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parker & Son Funeral Homes - Spencer from Jan. 26 to Jan. 27, 2026.
Norm Sidney Broadsword, 80, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, January 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born February 18, 1945, in Oberlin, Ohio, to the late Sidney and Frances (Forbush) Broadsword. Norm grew up on the family farm in Litchfield and graduated from Buckeye High School in 1963. A fourth-generation farmer and a lifetime resident of Litchfield, Norm devoted his life to the land he loved. The Broadsword Century Farm stands as a testament to his hard work, dedication, and deep love for his family. Passed down through generations, the farm now holds special meaning for the fifth, sixth, and seventh generations who continue to be part of the land. Norm took great pride in sharing the farm's history, values, and traditions, confident they would live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Norm enjoyed morning coffee with friends at The Twist in Spencer and cherished time spent with his grandchildren-especially Gator rides on the farm and trips to Walt Disney World's Fort Wilderness where he became well known for cooking pounds of bacon. He always made sure his Coke machine was fully stocked for the grandkids and that there was plenty of homemade ice cream for family picnics.

He is survived by his partner in life, Thelma Lou; Nina Broadsword; and their four children, Jennifer (Aaron) Lundquist, Karen (Tom) Reisinger, Tracy (Nicholas) Andrukat, and Norm Jr. (Megan Gabriel) Broadsword; grandchildren, Sydney, Abby, Andrew, Jake, Clare, Julia, Jack, Maddie, Ellie, Brody, Gabby, and Cooper; great-grandson, Henry; and brother, Ronald (Susan) Broadsword, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Parker Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St., Spencer, Ohio. Funeral services will be Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Spencer, 302 W. Main St., Spencer, Ohio. Pastors Travis Mullet and Aaron Lundquist will officiate. Burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Chatham VF Sugarbush Fund; 8322 Smith Rd., Medina, OH 44256.

Generations of our families have been "special friends" as far back as our Great - grandmothers on our mothers' sides.
Norm and I have made it through our individual lives into our 80's staying in contact sharing life's happenings of our families and of our shared love of Jesus our Savior.
Today my loss of my friend is his gain of heaven with Jesus and with the promise of meeting again and sharing that life with all of our families who have gone on before throughout the past generations.
