Beverly A. McCallister

Angels descending, bringing from above, echoes of mercy, whispers of love. Beverly Ann (nee Burns) McCallister, age 85 of Spencer, Ohio passed from this life peacefully with loving family by her side, on Monday, August 25, 2025, following an 8-year battle with cancer.

She was born July 7, 1940 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Kenneth W. and Evelyn M. (Creeger) Burns, where she graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1958. Beverly had a very busy life, working first at Tiffin Glass Company and later at Medina Hospital. She eventually retired in 2000 following a lengthy employment at Medina County Job and Family Services Office in Medina. She was a member of Spencer United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star Garfield Chapter 324. Beverly always had a crochet hook in her hand since being taught at 8 years old how to make afghans by her grandmother, Beulah May (Dunlap) Burns of Tiffin. After Beverly retired, her best friend, Ginger Camino, of Litchfield, talked her into learning how to quilt. She spent many, many hours making quilts of all sizes and colors. She even took her sewing machine on her travels in her camper. Her favorite places to camp were in Loudonville, Ohio; Tennessee; and Nova Scotia. She also spent many winters in Leesburg, Florida.

Beverly was very proud of her family. Survivors include daughters, Connie C. Frey of Spencer, Kelly J. McCallister of Hilton Head, SC; son, Steven J. (Tina) Frey of Loudonville; 4 beautiful and loving granddaughters, Katherine L. (Mike) Bartlett of Westfield Center, Cori C. (Alex) Holmes of Seville, Jennifer M. (Jake) Tyree of Wellington, Melissa A. (Josh) Muetzel of Brunswick Hills; 4 very precious great-grandchildren, Jaelynn Holmes, Julia and Justin Tyree and Emery Muetzel; Step-son, George (Debbie) McCallister; step-grandson, Zachary McCallister; and a very treasured friend and long-time companion, Robert Kent of Warren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William McCallister; step-sons, Brian and Alec McCallister; and several special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be Friday, August 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Parker Funeral Home, 202 East Main St., Spencer, Ohio, where her funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 1 p.m. Pastor Robert Ludwig will officiate and burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery.
