Norman Corfis Obituary
He was born In Detroit, Mi on March 22, 1925, His parents were Samuel and Verna (Dochow) Corfis. He is survived by his loving daughters Nora Holly Corfis and Ivy Ann Corfis, sister Shirley Mantay and brother-in-law Edward Mantay. His wife Marion (Patterson) Corfis predeceased him. After graduation from Denby High School in Detroit in 1943, he was drafted to serve in World War II. Norman served as a Navy radio operator stationed on Guam. After discharge from the Navy in 1946, he came up to Gaylord deer hunting, purchased property on Chub Lake, and built a cottage. There he met his wife Marion Winifred Patterson whose parents were building a cottage across the road. They were married 66 years until her passing in 2017. Norman worked for 30 years as plant engineer at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren, MI. He enjoyed wood working, hunting and fishing at his cottage, and could fix just about anything.
A private graveside service was held at Cadillac Memorial Gardens, Clinton Township, MI.
