Obituary of Norman Dolbee
Norman Dolbee, 93, of Bradenton, FL passed away peacefully on June 6th at home after a heroic fight.
Norman was born on January 28, 1930 to Edith and Russel Dolbee in Mason, Michigan. After honorably serving in the US Army he received his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in 1957. Norm worked as an accountant for decades at Miles Laboratories in Elkhart, Indiana and retired from Miles in 1994.
Norman is predeceased by his parents and sister, Joyce Fodor, He is survived by his five children Jon, William, Patrick, Dawn, Andrea; and his wife of 38 years, Norma Dolbee.
In recent years, Norman's life revolved around volunteer social services. He was a Tidewell Hospice volunteer for over thirty years and a very active member of AA; conducting and organizing local meetings and sponsoring numerous recovering alcoholics in Michigan, Indiana, and Florida.
Norman was an avid golfer and an incurable ball hawk. There were several trash cans filled with his treasured golf balls in Norm's garage. Norm was a passionate card player and would regularly play poker with his friends at Mt Vernon.
Norm would almost always handle dinner dish duties and as a result suffered from dish pan hands. Norm was a free range dog guy. His dogs could be counted on for misadventures that would animate both neighbors and family.
There will be a celebration of Norm's life later this summer near Bristol, IN. Family and friends will all be invited.
