MILLBURY – Norman C. Fairbanks, Sr., 82, passed away from a major heart attack on Monday, Dec. 11th in St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Norman became ill after receiving the COVID and flu shots, which damaged his heart.
Norman leaves his wife of 62 years, Joanne (Davis) Fairbanks; a daughter, Katherine Fairbanks and a son, Kenneth Fairbanks, who passed on December 12, 2023 after a long illness; five grandchildren, Megan Ricardi and her husband, Joseph of Charlton, Jared Carlson and his partner Heather Demuth of Millbury, Rachel Houlden and her husband, Tyler of Grafton, Amanda Fairbanks of Auburn and Rebekah Fairbanks; nine great grandchildren; Joel Carlson and his fiancé Sally Sampson; a brother, Carl Fairbanks of Millbury and a sister, Gloria Stacy of Northbridge; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Norman is predeceased by his son, Norman C. Fairbanks, Jr. who passed away in 2007, a grandchild, Benjamin Fairbanks and a sister, Patricia Griggs.
Norman was a life long Teamster and retired from United Parcel Service in 2002 after a 32-year career as a commercial truck driver. His heart was in Amish Country in Kinzer, Pennsylvania and her leaves behind many dear Amish friends. Norman enjoyed spending many months every year in Amish Country working fields and he enjoyed his mini farm at home in West Millbury and leaves behind his beloved sheep Maggie, Molly and a barn full of chickens. He worked very hard and enjoyed splitting firewood every day at his barn. He was brilliant in all things mechanical and around his house.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Norman and his son, Kenny by gathering for a time of visitation on Friday, Dec. 15th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
Their Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 16th at 10 am in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury. Burial will follow in West Millbury Cemetery.
