Norman James Goodwin

Norman James Goodwin, age 84, of Hillsdale, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Drews Country Living in Hillsdale. He was born February 7, 1941, in Reading, Michigan, to James and Hazel Zagyva Goodwin.
As the second to the eldest of his siblings, Norman entered the workforce at the young age of 14 to help support his family. He was formerly employed at Allied Manufacturing in Hillsdale. As a self-made entrepreneur, Norman also owned many rental properties in Hillsdale. His greatest joy was spending time outdoors farming his land. Norman also enjoyed working his hands, tinkering on engines, and traveling.
Survivors include three children, son Vincent Goodwin with Lynette Sawyer of Hillsdale, daughter Cindy Goodwin of Elkhart, Indiana, and "love child" Jennifer (O'Neill) & husband Patrick Schumaker of Belding, Michigan; three grandchildren, Branem and Quinten Goodwin, and Morgan Schumaker; one great-grandson, Aaron Goodwin; one great-great-granddaughter, Ivy Creek Goodwin; one sister, Shirley Goodwin Wise; two half-siblings, Suzanne Homan Edmonds and David Homan; and one step sister, Solitaire "Kitty" Homan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel and Raymond Homan; his father, James Goodwin; one brother-in-law, Jerry Wise; and his former spouse, Alice Jean (Simmons) Hartley.
A celebration of life for Norman Goodwin will be announced at a future date. Arrangements have been made under the guidance of VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
