Norman Carl Hoelting passed away on September 2, 2025, at Iris Memory Care in Tulsa, Ok. He was 90 years old and a resident of Sapulpa, OK since 2005. He was born in Platteville, Wisconsin on August 5, 1935, to Louise Sieber Hoelting and Carl Albert Hoelting. He grew up on a dairy farm near Belmont, Elk Grove Township, Wisconsin. He had three sisters Flora, Ruth, and Wanda.

Norm graduated from high school in 1953. After high school, he and two buddies went ahead and joined the Air Force from 1953-1957 so they would not be drafted and sent to Korea. His Air Force training led to his career as an Electronics Technician for the Federal Aviation Administration for 35 years. Norm worked as a volunteer at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, and later as a Lockheed contractor to the FAA there. In Albuquerque, he started working with hot air balloons and riding motorcycles.

He married Ila Jean Butson, and thus came four children, Calvin, Craig, Cathy and Carla. He then married Kathryn (Kay) Carpenter in 1989 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a great encourager to his entire family to be the best they could be, which resulted in multiple moves and opportunities for them. He was a very caring person and would lend a hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed using his 1947 Farmall Cub tractor to plow snow off neighbor's driveways.

Norm enjoyed working on cars. He restored his 1952 Dodge Truck his dad bought when he was 17. He took both the Dodge truck and 1972 Chevy Nova to car shows where he almost always won 1st place. Because of his farm upbringing, he could work on almost anything and fix it. He loved being able to teach his loved ones about any PROJECT as he called them. Norm was a Colonel in the Commemorative Air Force. He was able to participate in a Veteran's Honor Flight to Washington, DC, where he was an active pilot and enjoyed building an airplane with an Explorer post. He also enjoyed snow skiing, and attending grandchildren's activities including athletic activities, band and dance. He also really loved the genealogy of his family and even traveled to Germany with Cathy and Carla to explore the family roots.

He was a Boy Scout leader for many years, obtaining the highest adult award "Silver Beaver." He loved to travel and took two trips with the scouts to Germany. He wavery proud to help his two sons and three grandsons obtain their Eagle Scout rows.

Norm took early retirement and went with Kay's parents to Alaska in their motorhome and upon his return moved from his house in Midland, Texas to join Kay in McAllen, TX.

After a move to Dayton, OH, he decided to enjoy his retirement by taking many long motorcycle trips with his riding buddy. Their first long trip was to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland where Norm rode a smaller motorcycle but decided to buy a Goldwing for their long trips. They made several trips to Alaska and all Canadian provinces. He rented a motorcycle in Hawaii which completed his goal of riding in all 50 states. They also rented motorcycles in Germany and road 14 countries in Europe.

In 2005 he moved to Sapulpa, OK to be closer to children and grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church and worked with the local chain saw volunteers and with Southern Baptist Disaster Relief with chain saws and feeding teams. He went on deployments in Texas, Oklahoma and New Jersey for hurricane Sandy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his older sister Flora Hoelting Major, and grandson Luke Hoelting.

He is survived by his wife Kay of the home, children Calvin (wife Stacie) of Blackwell, OK , Craig (wife Barbara) of Tuttle OK, Cathy Lane (husband David) of Concord, NC and Carla Harris of Jenks, OK, the children's mother Ila Hoelting Mckee of Ponca City, OK, sisters Ruth Trembath (husband Keith) Spooner, WI and Wanda Hoelting of Portland. OR, grandchildren Tiffany Hoelting Clark (Joe), Austin and Evan Inhat, Josiah Lane (Natalie), Emily Obermiller ( Corey), Nathaniel Lane, Kiara Hoelting, Daniel Hoelting, Claire Harris, Trinity Hoelting, Adam Hoelting, and Trace Harris and great grandchildren Kennedy and Connor Hoelting, Tyler Clark and Zoe, Anika and Eden Lane and loving nieces and nephews.
