Norman James Larson, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, in
Lake Havasu City, Arizona at the age of 98. Born on July 19, 1927, in
Decatur, Michigan, Norman's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of his generation, marked by dedication to family, country, and community.
Norman's early years in Michigan were the foundation of a life lived with vigor and purpose. After bravely serving his country as an Army veteran in World War II, he transitioned to a career as an engineer with Ford Motor Company, where his ingenuity and hard work left a lasting impact. His contributions to the industry were not just about mechanics and numbers; they were about improving the lives of those who would use the products he helped develop.
Throughout his life, Norman was known for his friendly disposition, loving heart, and thoughtful nature. He had a way of making each person he met feel valued and respected, a trait that endeared him to many.
The joys of his life were manifold, but nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Pollard and Karen (Ken) Pilon; sons, Thomas (Paula) Larson and Jeff (Rebecca) Larson; sister, Sue (Norman) Shanahan; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Each of them carries forward a piece of Norman's legacy and will continue to honor his memory through the values he instilled in them. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores Larson; his father, Robert Larson; his mother, Nina Larson; his brothers, Larry Larson and Robert Larson; and his sisters, Shirley Figg and Laurel Ozanich.
Norman's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He loved the thrill of the casino, especially the challenge of video poker, which he played with strategic precision. His voice was a joyful addition to any karaoke gathering, and he continued to sing his favorite tunes until he was 98 years old. The golf course was another place where Norman found happiness, enjoying the camaraderie of the game as much as the sport itself.
Above all, Norman was "the best guy ever" in the eyes of those who knew him. His presence was a source of stability and joy, and his influence will be felt for generations to come. Norman's story is one of a life well-lived, filled with moments of love, laughter, and the kind of wisdom that only a life as full as his could impart.
As we say goodbye to Norman James Larson, we celebrate the enduring mark he has left on the world. His was a life that exemplified the best of us, and his memory will continue to inspire kindness, love, and thoughtful action in all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Norman's legacy is not just in the family he raised or the work he accomplished, but in the countless lives he touched with his generous spirit and warm smile. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a beacon of light in the lives of his loved ones.
