In Loving Memory of Normand V. Gregoire BARRE-Normand V. Gregoire passed peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 10, 1937, in St-Adrien-d'Irlande, Quebec, the son of Joseph and Albertine Gregoire. One of nine children, he grew up on a farm in the rolling hills of rural Quebec-a place that shaped his quiet strength and tireless work ethic. For 35 years, Normand worked in the granite industry, eventually co-owning Gregoire Granite with his brother Roger during the last 13 years of his career. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Denise LaFlamme. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage-a true partnership built on love, patience, and mutual respect. In 1964, they moved to Vermont to begin a new chapter, raising their family with love and integrity while staying deeply connected to their Canadian roots. For 22 winters, Normand and Denise made Fort Myers, Florida, their home away from home, creating beautiful memories in the sunshine and warmth and building lasting friendships along the way. Normand was a man of deep character: selfless, courageous, patient, and strong. He never raised his voice, never sought attention; he simply lived with grace and purpose. He was sharp and observant, a man of few words, but every one of them counted. He found joy in life's simple pleasures: casting a line into Vermont's lakes, fly-fishing in Northern Canada, and snowmobiling through winter trails. Despite facing numerous health challenges, Normand never complained. His strength was quiet but unwavering-a true testament to the man he was. He is predeceased by his beloved brother, Roger, and his cherished grandson, Elliot Eastman. Left to honor his memory are his devoted wife, Denise, and their three children: Pierre Gregoire of Barre Town, Julie Eastman (John) of Essex Junction, and Cynthia Fortin (Eric) of Barre Town. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren-Autumn Kromah, Andre Eastman, Ellison Fortin, and Ethan Fortin-and his great-granddaughter, Cielle Kromah. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the exceptional staff at Central Vermont Medical Center and Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice. Your compassion and dedication will never be forgotten. In accordance with Normand's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on October 17, 2025, at Saint Sylvester Cemetery. He was a kind soul, a strong spirit, and a loving father-and we will carry his legacy in our hearts forever. "Dad"-just three little letters, yet they hold a world of meaning in my heart. My dad was truly the best. I told him that often, and I meant it every time. He was the kindest man I've ever known, with a heart full of quiet courage and an extraordinary will to live. Even through his long battle with silicosis from years working in the granite sheds, his beautiful, generous smile never faded. That smile had the power to reassure everyone around him-like a quiet promise that everything would be okay. I miss it already, though I'm lucky to carry a piece of it as my own. I know he's in heaven now, waiting with open arms to greet each of us when our time comes. Arrangements are in the care of Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer Street in Barre. The French Version for Canadian Relatives!
