A resident of St. Martinville, Nuxy Paul Romero was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on January 11, 1940, to the late Steven and Lillian Romero. He lived a life full of warmth, love, and a deep connection to both his family and his work. Nuxy dedicated his career to the oilfield, where he poured his heart and soul into his work. He retired from Schlumberger, then went to work for Pro-Log for many years. His coworkers became a second family to him.
Nuxy had a zest for life that defined him. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding great pleasure in hunting and fishing. His love for woodworking and carving reflected his creative side, where each piece he crafted was a testament to his skill and passion. A unique venture of his was raising and selling game roosters—a commitment that showcased his appreciation for nature and the serene beauty it offers.
Nuxy also enjoyed the thrill of visiting the casino, relishing the excitement and fun it provided. Yet, amid all these pursuits, it was his role as a father and grandfather that truly defined his legacy. Nuxy was a loving and devoted father, who cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Romero is survived by daughter, Pamela Lord (Tommy); sons, Stevie Romero (Margo) Ryan Romero (Tiffany); sisters, Linda Romero and Wanda Durocher; grandchildren, Alex Romero, Nicholas Romero (Meghan), Amanda Lord Clause (Brad), Jamie Lord Segura (Michael), Payten Romero, and Cooper Romero; and great grandchildren, Madilyn Clause, Ava-Claire Clause, Luke Segura, Graham Segura, Paesley Romero.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Melva Broussard Romero; infant son, Ryan Paul Romero; and a sister, Lou Robicheaux.
Pallbearers will be Brad Clause, Mike Segura, Alex Romero, Nick Romero, Chad Romero, and Gerald Landry.
Honorary pallbearer is Tommy Lord.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana, especially Nuxy’s wonderful nurses, Alyson and Laura; and to Kent Zeringue (Food with Love Ministry), who was a godsend to the family. You truly are all angels on earth and will never be forgotten.
Nuxy’s spirit, resilience, and love for family will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace.
