Obert "Rick" Charles Ristey, of Plover, passed away at home on July 25, 2025, at the age of 79.
Rick was born October 29, 1945 in La Crosse, WI; son of the late Charles Ristey and Lois (Williams) Johnson. He grew up in the area where he attended local schools and graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1964.
Following high school, Rick entered the workforce. Using his knowledge and skills, along with some hard work and dedication, he became the proud owner and operator of Ristey's Electric Motor Shop. While he did this for many years, he eventually decided to change directions and opened Ristey's Gun and Ammo.
When Rick had time to enjoy the outdoors, he took full advantage. He especially loved to be out on the water, fishing. He also enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes (RCA) that he built himself.
Rick was well known for his big personality and his ability to own the room with his charm and stories. Even more notable was his persistence and perseverance. Despite his disability, he was intensely proud to maintain his independence and never let it be an obstacle between him and his goals. To all those who knew him, he was a true inspiration!
Rick is survived by his wife, Florence "Flo" Ristey; his son, Mark Ristey (Shelley); his grandson, Gage DeNure (Tatiana); and a great-granddaughter, Mila. He is further survived by his brothers, Eric (Jamie) and Larry (Kathy); a sister, Leslie Hove; and numerous friends and extended family.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Lois and Ronald "Philly" Johnson; and his father, Charles Ristey.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the St. Croix Hospice team for their exceptional and compassionate care and to our good friends, Tom and Linda Ozorski, for always being there.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Rick's honor from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Shuda Plover Funeral Chapel - 2400 Plover Road, Plover, WI.
Shuda Funeral Chapel is honored to be assisting the family.
