Thomas J. Quimby, 91, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 6, 2025.
He was born June 17, 1934, in Stevens Point to George and Helen Quimby.
He graduated from PJ Jacobs High School and entered into the military where he served in 3 separate branches: Marines, into the National Guard, and ending with the SeaBees, a part of the US Navy's Construction Force. He was also employed at Consolidated Papers where he retired in 1996 after 34 years.
He married the love of his life, Mary Phillips, on September 1,1962, in Detroit, Michigan, before coming back to settle in Plover, Wisconsin. Together they had 8 children.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, cribbage (wire-walker), softball, and spending time with family and especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children: Brian (Kristen) Quimby, Kevin (Helen) Quimby, Becky (Dave) Gavin, Wendy (Mike) Grezenski, Eric (Michele) Quimby, Stephanie (Bryan) Gibby, Renee (Clayton) Perzinski. Multiple grandchildren: Travis (Angela) Wilkinson, Braeden Quimby; Daphne, Mason and Sydney Gavin; Austin Grezenski, Hailey (Nash) Knetter; Trevor, Trent, Tanner, Tristen Perzinski: Brian (Stephanie) Novotny, Mindy, Travis. Great grandchildren: Stryker, Slade, Sutton Wilkinson; Rhianna, Kinley, Bennett, Levi. One sister, Shirley Smith and one sister-in-law Bonnie Quimby. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with many friends.
Preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and one son Mark Quimby. Also, by siblings Ann "Queenie" Pozorski, Joan Meshak, Donald Quimby, Dave Quimby and brother-in-law Charlie Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Saint Bronislava Parish in Plover. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow with Miltary Honors at Saint Bronislava Parish Cemetery.
