Ocia Brown Fromme, 71, of Union Grove, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 28, 2025, after battling cancer.

Born on July 21, 1954, in Iredell County, Ocia was the daughter of the late Harold Brown and Stella Templeton Brown. She was a graduate of North Iredell High School and spent her entire life in the Union Grove area.

Ocia had a huge heart — full of warmth, kindness, and compassion. She never met a stranger, and her infectious personality left a lasting impact on everyone she met. She was a devoted mother, stepmother, grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor, and she poured love into every relationship in her life.

She shared an especially close bond with her daughter, Carla, who was also her best friend. The two shared countless adventures and everyday joys, rarely spending a day apart. Ocia was also a loving stepmom, always opening her heart fully to her blended family.

Over the years, Ocia worked in various roles — including over 20 years at RJ Reynolds as a forklift and cherry picker operator. She also worked at Granny’s, a beloved family-owned business in Union Grove during the 1990s and early 2000s, and later as a front desk secretary at the Union Grove Feed Mill. After retiring, she found peace and joy tending to her flowers, spending time in her yard, and caring for her dogs, Honey and Laila.

She had a deep love for her church and church families. Ocia was a faithful member of Harmony Methodist Church and also attended Calvary Baptist Church of Union Grove, where her daughter and brother are members.

Ocia is preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Fromme; her parents, Harold and Stella Templeton Brown; her younger brother, Harold Baxter Brown Jr.; her stepson, Matthew Fromme; and too many beloved rescue dogs to count.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: son, Wayne Reavis; daughter, Carla Reavis; and stepchildren, Amy Fromme Stern, Eric Fromme, and Laurie Fromme. She is also survived by her brother, Atley Brown; grandchildren, Thomas, Karaline, Taylor, Kayleigh, and Jeffrey; great-grandchildren, Lizzie, Natalie, Mia, and Vivian; and her loyal dogs, Honey and Laila.

Ocia will be remembered for her generous heart, radiant smile, and the unconditional love she gave to her family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to know her.

A funeral service will take place 11AM, Friday, September, 5, 2025 at Harmony Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Lakey, Pastor Steve Pope officiating. Committal will follow at Harmony Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
