Octavio Tijerina Obituary

Octavio Tijerina Sr., 89, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 21, 2025. He was born on November 17, 1935, in Kingsville, Texas.
Octavio now joins his parents, Francisco Tijerina and Dora A. Tijerina, and his siblings, Armando and Rome. He is survived by his loving wife, Socorro G Tijerina; his two children, Octavio and Susana; and his three cherished grandchildren, Mateo, Tiah and Alex. He also leaves behind his sister, Cris Neal and brother, Frank Tijerina along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
At a young age, Octavio was determined to leave Kingsville and see the world. After earning his GED, Octavio proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1962. When he returned home, he attended barber college before beginning a long and dedicated 25-year career with Union Pacific Railroad, where his strong work ethic and sense of responsibility earned him the respect of many.
A man of faith, Octavio lived his life with conviction, generosity, and love for others. He enjoyed barbecuing, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends-usually with plenty of laughter and good stories to share.
Those who knew him best will remember his quick wit, sense of humor, and big heart. He was firm when he needed to be, always ready to lend a helping hand, and never afraid to speak his mind. True to form, he was a "his way or the highway" kind of man-and that's exactly what made him unforgettable. You could usually spot him with a cold Miller Lite in hand, a pack of Marlboro Reds tucked in his shirt pocket and a bottle of tequila or Crown Royal nearby as he unwound after a long day's work, sharing laughs and stories with people he loved most.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
