Odd Osland

At 84, Odd Osland of Apple Valley passed away from a fierce battle with cancer. Odd was born on August 6 th of 1941 on a farm in Bue, Norway, the oldest of six. Odd lived a life that was devoted to his friends and family across the globe. He was known in the circles of competitive cross-country skiing for always finishing near the top of his class, roller skiing and biking all summer to stay in top shape

Outside of his more than 35-year professional career (in mechanical design mostly at 3M), he filled his time with world travel, photography and social groups (such as Kontakt). After overcoming a childhood hip problem, Odd attended agricultural trade school in Norway. After completion, Odd emigrated to North Dakota in 1970 to start his new life.

He endured many dramatic injuries from his love of sport, but none stopped him from achieving his goal to be on the podium worldwide. Placing at many Birkies, regional and national races, being handpicked as a member of a World Cross Country Masters Relay Team.

He accomplished his dreams and so much more all with such a love of life and friends.

Odd is preceded in death by his parents, Juditta and Hallvard, and his beloved daughter, Kari. He is survived by sons Tore (Becki), Even (Erica) and Gar (Ashley). His much adored and loved grandchildren, Aldin, Braelyn and Gavin; Elycia (Jake); Sophia, Ari and Joselin. Previous wife, Carol. Siblings Per (Maria), Ingeborg (Guudmond), Turid (Erik), Marit (Nils) and Harald (Reidun). And his longtime companion, Jo-Ann Wittman.

There will be a minnestund (social gathering to honor Odd) at the Mindekirken located at 924 E 21 st St in Minneapolis. 11:00 am March 16, 2026

vistitaion 1 hr prior at church. Following will be a private interment at Lebanon Cemetery in Apple Valley.
