Odine Arnt passed away Friday, September 20, 2024 at Ecumen in North Branch at the age of 98.
Odine Aswald Arnt was born November 22, 1925 to Alexander and Sarah (Hodney) Arnt in Tracy, Minnesota.
At the age of 14 he moved to the Twin Cities. As a young man he began his own custom gardening business, and in the winters he dug graves. He married Beatrice Loeffler in 1948. In 1975 he married Jean Franz.
He owned and operated a construction company for 25 years in North St. Paul. Then he moved to Iowa where he owned an A & W in Jefferson. He returned to construction in Duluth working for Wangren Construction.
He resided in Sturgeon Lake and lived several years in Pine City.
Odine was an avid farmer and enjoyed being with all of his animals. He took great pride in his yard and hobby farm.
Odine is survived by his children Eugene (Jane), Margaret (Joe), John, Steve, Jim (Amy), Nick (Dona), Tom, Joan (John), and Janet (Mike); son-in-law Ed; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; stepsons Gary, Ron, and Dave; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alexander and Sarah Arnt; first wife Beatrice Arnt; second wife Jean Arnt; children Cathy, Joe, Patty and Robert; siblings Arlene, Margaret, Einar, Spencer and Sylvia; stepson Glen; daughter-in-law Jeanette; son-in-law Ken.
A visitation time for family and friends will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM; Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. Lunch will be provided by Janet and Joan at Joan's house from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM. A graveside service and interment will take place at 1:30 PM at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Mahtomedi.
