It is with great sadness that the family of Denise Murphy, age 70, of Newton, MA, announce the unexpected passing of their beloved sister on February 11, 2024. Denise was pre-deceased by her parents Francis (Dapper) and Marie (Pelletier) Murphy of Brookline, MA; brothers, Dr. Francis (Frank) Murphy of Beaufort, SC and Richard (Rick) Murphy of Merrimack, NH; nephew Richard (Ricky) Murphy of Merrimack, NH; and brother-in-law Edward Daudelin of Hopedale, MA. Denise is survived by her siblings Judith (Judy) Daudelin of Milford, MA; Gerald (Jerry) Murphy and his wife, Barbara of Methuen, MA; Sheila Moore of Brookline, MA; John Murphy and his wife, Nancy of Merrimack, NH; and Mary Michael of Pembroke, NH; as well as sisters-in-law Cathy Murphy, Charlotte Murphy, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Denise had a great circle of friends with whom she developed close relationships over the years and will be missed by all who knew her. She graduated from St. Mary's High School, Brookline, MA in 1972 and went on to attend Aquinas College, Newton, MA where she earned a degree in business. Denise enjoyed traveling, spending two months living in Honduras after graduating college, and making multiple trips to Ireland with her beloved Aunt Ella and friends. Denise's other hobbies included playing guitar and photography. She had a love of all animals, but her beloved cats were her favorite. She is sure to be missed by her current furry companion, Callie, who is being lovingly cared for in her new forever home. Denise was a person of great faith, who, throughout her life had been very active in her faith community, St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Brookline, MA. She was a devout Roman Catholic who kept a prayer list of others for whom she prayed every evening, along with her devoted friend, Debbie Cebulski. Denise prayed the Rosary several times each day, and though unable to attend weekly services in person, never missed Sunday Mass, streaming it live on her phone. Father Jonathan Gaspar of St. Mary's Church paid Denise monthly visits to ensure she received Holy Communion. Denise made sure that she reached out to connect with her family and friends every day. She was always there to wish 'Happy Birthday' to a loved one, check in to see how they were doing, and never forgot to tell others that she loved them. Denise, and her daily calls and messages will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 8th at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 5 Linden Place, Brookline, MA at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 990 LaGrange Street, West Roxbury, MA.
