Olga Mata Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home on Oct. 26, 2023.
Olga Leal Mata, 81, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on October 25, 2023. She left a lasting legacy in her hometown, where she was born on January 23, 1942. Olga's life was marked by her dedication to her family and faith. As a retired housewife, she poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and loving home for her loved ones. Her unwavering faith in St. Joseph's Catholic Church was not only a spiritual anchor but also a community that became her extended family.
In her lifetime, Olga experienced both joy and heartache. She was preceded in death by two of her beloved sons, Daniel Mata, and Edward Mata, as well as two sisters, Julia Molina, and Adelfa Tamez, and two brothers, Eclicedo Vela and Ricardo Vela. Despite these losses, she found strength and support in her husband of 58 years, Ernesto G. Mata, who stood by her side through the ups and downs of life. Olga's surviving family members include her devoted daughter, Brenda L. Mata, and her three sons, Ernesto Mata Jr. (Amy), Billy Mata, and Christopher Mata. She also had one brother, Richard Baraza and two sisters, Inez Prado of California, and Rosa Moya of Corpus Christi. Olga's nurturing spirit continued to shine through her six cherished grandchildren: Tyler (Marisa), Travis (Michael), Ernie III, Danielle, Addison, as well as four great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
To honor and pay respects to Olga Leal Mata, a visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass to celebrate her life will take place on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Paulson officiating.
