Olive Macleod Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (43rd St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Mar. 18, 2026.
Olive Mary MacLeod, a beacon of love and adventure, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 94. Born on April 23, 1931, in London, England, Olive's life was a tapestry of dedication, service, and joy that spanned nearly a century. The daughter of the late Mary and George Bennett, and sister to the late Alan Bennett and Pauline Silver, Olive's early years in London set the stage for a life of resilience and grace. Her journey across the Atlantic in 1960 with her beloved late husband, John MacLeod, marked the beginning of a new chapter in Westfield, New Jersey, where together they raised a family imbued with love and the importance of community.

Olive's professional life was characterized by her intelligence and work ethic, which shone brightly during her tenure as an executive secretary for General Motors in Linden, New Jersey. She was admired by colleagues for her poise, competence, and warmth, leaving a lasting impression on all who worked with her. A faithful Christian, Olive lived her faith through action, embodying love and service through her unwavering commitment to volunteering. Dancing and playing tennis were joyful expressions of her vibrant spirit, which she maintained well into her 80s.

Olive was predeceased by her parents; her brother and sister; her husband, John; her daughter, Fiona Clark; and her grandson, Jamie Clark. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Maryanne Cobb and her husband Greg; her son-in-law, Richard Clark; her cherished grandchildren, Ian, Tom, Jessica Clark, and Brooke Cobb; and her beloved great-grandchild, who brought her immense joy.

Olive's life was a testament to love, intelligence, and an adventurous spirit that embraced each day with enthusiasm and courage. She was a guiding light to her family, instilling values of kindness, education, and passion. As we bid farewell, we celebrate a life fully lived, one that will continue to shine through the countless memories held by those who loved her.

A service will be held at the Kirkwood Presbyterian Church memorial garden on Sunday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life in Bradenton Beach on Saturday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m.
