Oral Thomas "Tom" Mayer, Jr., passed away on November 11, 2025, in Violet, Louisiana. Born on March 24, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Tom grew up in New Orleans and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish.

Tom graduated from F.T. Nichols High School in 1972. From a young age, Tom showed a strong work ethic, starting with his paper route in New Orleans. He later worked at Dixie Beer, Elmer's Chee-Weez, and Avondale Shipyard before building a long and dedicated career in construction.

He had a passion for carpentry and took great pride in working with his hands. Tom also enjoyed connecting with others through his CB radio, using the handle "Eskimo." This hobby became a cherished activity he shared with his children during their memorable "CB Hunts." A fan of science fiction films, Tom found joy and entertainment in exploring imaginative worlds on screen.

Tom is lovingly remembered by his children: Louis Beninato; Jonathan Mayer and his wife Chrissie; and Gabrielle Mayer. He was a proud grandfather to Alyssa Luke, Kelcyee Mayer, Alexis Mayer, Keegan Luke, Axyl Mayer, Eliana Beninato, JordynLee Mayer, Delylah Mayer, and Carlye Mayer. He is also survived by his brother Earl "EJ" Mayer, and his niece Rachel Plata (Hector).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Kelly Mayer and Oral Thomas Mayer; as well as his siblings Kathey Mayer Ladner and David Mayer.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at Celebration Church; time and date will be announced once available.
