A graveside service for Oris "Pete" McCleney, 68, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Moral Cemetery with Jack Noble officiating. Pete passed away on May 27, 2025, in Nacogdoches. He was born on November 20, 1956, in Bryan to the late Oris Alvin and Mary (Kirk) McCleney.
Pete McCleney was born in Bryan. He joined the Army and served as a Ranger in Vietnam. A little later in life, he met Dorothy Poskey. The two struck up a great friendship that turned into so much more. They truly loved each other and simply understood one another. They spent 40 years together being best friends and sharing the life they loved until her passing in 2023. Pete truly missed having the love of his life by his side. Pete was a no-frills kind of man. He enjoyed rides on his motorcycle and watching westerns and wrestling on tv. Pete was truly devoted to Dorothy and his family. He was Pop to the grandchildren and carried that name with pride. Pete and Dorothy were founding members of East Texas Motorcycle Enthusiasts Club. He was lovingly known as "Pete the Plumber" by all his family and friends. Pete was a gentle giant and will be missed by everyone who were lucky enough to know him.
Pete is survived by his daughters, Kristen Dodge and Sarah Wilson; sons, Jessie Poskey and wife, Mallory, and Jason Poskey; grandchildren, Jessie Poskey Jr. and wife, Jill, Ansley Poskey, Addison Poskey, Miley Brock, Mabry Brock and Hank Lewis Poskey; and brothers, Michael Alvin McCleney and Carol Wayne McCleney.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy McCleney; parents, Oris Alvin and Mary (Kirk) McCleney; and sister, Shirley Elaine McCleney.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Pete's name be given to the Make a Wish Foundation.
