Orlan L. (Sieb) Siebenthal was born December 2, 1943, the fourth child of Robert W. and Esther M. (Wieland) Siebenthal near the intersection of Benton, Jasper and White counties. Sieb was educated in the Gilboa Elementary School, graduated from Remington High School with the class of 1962, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Manchester University in 1965 and a Master of Science degree from Purdue University (with a National Defense Education Act grant) in 1969. Orlan married the love of his life, Janet M. Cormier Siebenthal, August 16, 1969, in South Bend, Indiana. He died unexpectedly at 11:55pm on March 9th, 2025, at IU Health Hospital. Sieb was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
Sieb was a Social Studies teacher and guidance counselor for forty years in the West Lafayette Community School Corporation. During this time he participated in the "Learning and Teaching about Japan" program sponsored by an Eli Lilly Foundation grant. He was a member of the West Lafayette Education Association, Indiana State Teachers Association, National Education Association, Indiana Counselors Association and the American Counselors Association. After his retirement in 2005, he volunteered at the West Lafayette Public Library, Food Finders Food Bank, and the West Lafayette Tree Friends. Throughout these years, he was a fan of amateur sports at all levels especially Notre Dame football.
Orlan is survived by his wife Jan, sister Sharon (Jim) Justice, sister-in-law Carolyn Siebenthal, and sister-in-law Dorothy (George) Schath. Also surviving are niece Susan (Mick) Benner and their sons Adam (Crystal) Benner, Rodney (Trisha) Benner, and Riley (Jessie) Benner; niece Jacqueline Cunningham and her sons Clayton Cunningham and Zachery (Kelly) Cunningham; nephew Troy (Lori) Justice and their children Tori (Matt) Welker, Tycie (Dylan) Johnson, and Levi (Kalie) Justice; nephew Greg (Terri) Justice and their children Taylor (Rachel) Justice and Shyla (Josh) Hale; niece Karen (Scott) Schath Jarrett and their sons Trent (Abby) Jarrett and Drake Jarrett; niece Diane Schath Kimball and her children Sean Kimball and Megan Kimball. Also surviving are many great-great nieces and nephews.
Sieb was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne, (infant) brother Ralph, his in-laws Cecilia and Joseph Cormier, and Chelsea, Chelsie, and Franklin (his Wire-Haired Fox Terrier "kids").
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 pm on Monday, March 17, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 535 Mitch Daniels Blvd (State St.), West Lafayette, IN with Fathers Andy McAlpin and Rob Hankee officiating. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette. Parking is also available in the Grant Street and Wood Street parking garages.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Orlan L. and Janet M. Cormier Siebenthal Scholarship Fund % Development Office, Manchester University, 604 E. College Avenue, North Manchester, IN 46962 or Food Finders Food Bank, 1204 Greenbush Street, Lafayette, IN 47904.

I was very surprised and sorry to se Orlan´s name in the obituary column. He was always a great delight in the office and at Hour Time My nurse Dottie really liked him as well. Hopefully he can push the Irish to great things next time season. May he rest in peace
