Orlando "Lando" Lara, a father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, left this world tragically too soon at only 50 years old June 25, 2025. Born on January 18, 1975, in Banning, California, Lando's sense of humor and immense love for those closest to him will be greatly missed.

He went to Banning High School, where he played football during his freshman year. Though he found a different path at Banning Continuation School, he later obtained his GED. Lando held many small jobs and worked for Kmart during their remodeling phase.

Lando's spiritual journey led him to be confirmed into the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church( aka Precious Blood Catholic Church) during his youth. He also had some childhood adventures as a cub and boy scout for a couple years. Those who knew him well will remember his deep love, his jokes, laughter, and the warmth of his generosity. They will also remember his love of the Raiders, along with his Levis and Nikes.

Family was important to Lando, he took care of them when he could, and he was always helpful when he had the opportunity to lend a hand. He is survived by his daughters, Raquel Martin and Kaylah Hayes. He had a strong bond with his siblings, James Edward Byars Jr., Samantha Byars, and Ramon J Byars, together they shared a lifetime of memories. Lando will be remembered by his nieces, Chynnah and Monet Flowers, as well as his nephews: Maurice "Taco" Campbell Jr., Malique "Chunk" Campbell, and Joseph "JoJo" Campbell. His family roots extended deeply with aunts Yvonne, Yvette, Annette, Isabel Leyva, and Evangelina Elizondo Andrade, alongside uncles Edward Leyva Sr., and David Elizondo. Lando was also a grandfather to five grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife, Mia Andrade and a large extended family of countless cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as numerous more family members and friends, who will carry on his memory.

Lando now joins the ranks of his angels: his mother, Olga Byars, sister Ramona Byars, grandmothers Ramona Lara and Alice Campos, aunts Otilia Lara and Ronette Saubel Elizondo, uncles Oswaldo "Ozzie" Elizondo and Leroy Lara, and cousins Lisa Lara, Natasha Lesh, and Gary Lyons.

As we bid farewell to Orlando Lara, let us honor his memory by embracing each day with love and laughter. His story does not end with his passing-for the lives he touched, the love he gave, and the joy he spread will endure forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, please make all donations to the CA Victims of Crime Compensation Board.

Lando's Visitation will take place Thursday, July 24th, 2025 from 4-7:00 pm and his Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 25th, 2025 at 10:00 am at Wiefels & Son Mortuary 50 E Nicolet St, Banning, California 92220.
