Orval K. Moore, 82, of Carmel, Indiana, peacefully passed away on June 13, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on October 13, 1942, in Gulfport, Mississippi, to the late Dr. M. E. Moore and Halcie (Racquet) Moore. Orval grew up in Frankfort, Indiana and graduated from Frankfort High School and attended South Dakota State University.
Orval was a strong man. He never gave up even when cancer overtook him. Orval worked at Rock Island Oil Refinery in Indianapolis, Marathon Oil Company, Hess Oil Virgin Island Corportation, and Citizens Energy Group in Indianapolis. He was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, archery, fishing, and shooting. He had a love for Jeeps and owned several. Orval married Rovena (Adams) on November 6, 1971, enjoying a long, loving 53-year-old marriage.
Orval is survived by his loving wife, Rovena Moore. His son, Jay (Megan) Dodson of Carmel, IN, grandchildren, Jackson, Nick, and Brock, and his daughter Melissa (Mark) Stailey of Basalt, CO. Also loved by many special nieces and nephews.
His strength, both in facing life's challenges and in his unwavering love for his family, will forever be remembered.
Visitation will be from 2 - 4 pm on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan - Carmel at 325 E. Carmel Dr., Carmel, IN 46032, with a Memorial Service to follow at 4 pm.
