Oscar Rodriguez

Oscar "Okie" Rodriguez, 70, of Austin, Texas passed away on May 21, 2023, in Wimberley, Texas. Oscar was born in Austin, Texas to Francisco Rodriguez, Sr. and Janie Aleman on August 8, 1952.
Oscar went to high school at Johnson High School in Austin and graduated in 1973. After graduation he diligently served for the US Army for 9 years as a Specialist 4th Class then as a Sergeant (Infantry Man). He received the Expert Badge Rifle M-16, Good Conduct Medal (2nd Conduct), Expert Infantry Badge, and the honorable 25th Infantry Recondo Patch. Oscar was a wonderful father who loved his children very much. He taught us to always stand tall, be strong and proud, and know ourselves in all situations and supported us all throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties of our lives. He taught us to have manners and respect, to take responsibility for our actions, love others, and most importantly, love God (Jehovah). He was an avid Raiders fan. He enjoyed relaxing weekends in Wimberley and vacations in Florida.
Oscar is survived by his sons, Anthony Huerta (Melissa) and Ricardo Rodriguez, of Austin, Texas, and daughters Jessica Al-Hmaid (Ahmad) and Renee Desselle (Lynn), Grandchildren Alexis Huerta, Aliyah Huerta, David Huerta, Aidin Huerta, Arianna Huerta, Richard Rodriguez, Rayah Rodriguez, Francisco Pruneda, and Isabella Pfahler, and 5 Great Grandchildren, Siblings Gabriel Rodriguez and David Rodriguez, of Austin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Janie Rodriguez and brother Francisco C. Rodriguez Jr.
Viewing services will be held at Harrell Funeral Home (Kyle, Tx) on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm with a "Remembrance Service" at 7:00 pm. Burial Committal Service will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. We will plan on a gathering and prayer service that morning from 8:30 - 9:45 at Harrell Funeral Home (Kyle, Tx) before police escorts will take us to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Harrell Funeral Home (Kyle, Tx) will be handling the funeral arrangements.
