Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gramer Funeral Home - Clawson on Oct. 11, 2023.
Otis D. Carr, A devout Christian, dedicated family man, and long standing member of the Southeastern Michigan Business Community peacefully passed away on October 9th, 2023. His gregarious and enterprising spirit often left others feeling good about their interactions with him, as well as about themselves and in their ability to successfully achieve a wide array of life objectives. As a result he will be sorely missed by many whose lives he touched in both a personal and professional manner. Otis was born to his loving parents Jeff and Christine (Jennie) Carr On July 4th 1939 in Sterlington, Louisiana. He was raised alongside his elder siblings Temple Lee, Johnnie Mae, Dorthy Lee, Oscar and Curtis Carr. Also in Sterlington is where Otis attended Miles High School and met many of his Lifelong Friends. Subsequent to those occurrences is when he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Otis capitalized on numerous career opportunities after his departure from the armed forces. Although it was his endeavor as commercial radio disc jockey that afforded him an opportunity to meet and then soon marry who is now his former wife Florida Carr in 1965. From their union two children were born both Derryl and Danetta Carr. Shortly thereafter Otis along with his family journeyed to Michigan in search of a new horizon. Upon their arrival they indeed find many which allowed Otis to economically evolve and then later on thrive in the construction industry. Otis truly enjoyed the freedom that his career choice provided him as an entrepreneur. Given that He was able to travel and experience several national and international destinations. Whenever possible and especially during the summer months Otis's preferred method for transit was via car. So that he and his family could soak up and revel in the scenery along the way. Otis also cherished the flexibility of being able to donate his time and financial resources to various charitable, minority, and religious organizations. The principal characteristic about Otis is that he thoroughly enjoyed the company of others. And permanently positioned at the very top of that list would be his grandson Caleb closely followed by his own children and a whole host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
