Mr. Otis Hickmon, Jr. was born on October 17, 1932, to the late Jessie and Otis Hickson, Sr., in Lamar County, Georgia. He joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at an early age, where he served on the Deacon Board for many years. He was employed by Dundee Mills, Inc., until his retirement.
He was married at an early age to Mamie Hickmon and to this union they were blessed with six children: Dorothy Welch, (Derrick, Carlos, (Gloria), Marques (Jeanette) Welch) John Hickmon, Willie Hickmon, Sr. (Willie, Jr., Shanae Hickmon) Brenda (Rolando) Bowles (Lee Hickmon, Alicia Stanley) Anita Harris (Donti' Hixson, Ashlee Hixson) Janet Hickmon. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also leaves one loving sister, Beatrice Daniely.
Later in life Mr. Otis Hickmon, Jr., was joined in holy matrimony to the late Eldora Hickmon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Jessie Hickmon, Sr., his brothers, Willie Louis Hickmon, Arthur Hickmon, Robert Hickmon, Jimmy Hickmon, Charlie Hickmon; his sisters, Eunice King, Rannie Pearl Childs, and Doris Colquitt, and his great grandson, Marques Welch, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Burden's Funeral Home. A Graveside Celebration will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pastor Terrence Wilson is the Eulogist.
