Otis Lee Newton Jr, 93, of Colonial Heights passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024. Born December 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Otis Lee Newton Sr. and Annie Ruth Toler. He was also preceded in death by his sons; Otis Lee Newton III and Daniel K. Newton, and brothers James Newton and Richard Newton.
Otis was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #284, Colonial Heights and was an instructor for (ALMAC) at Fort Lee where he worked until retiring in 1990.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Geraldine C. Newton; son, Gary Alan Newton and wife Yolanda; grandson, Gary Alan Newton Jr.; granddaughter, Olivia N. Harriman and her husband William; daughter-in-law, Courtney C. Newton; brother, Jesse Earl Newton; sister, Margaret Newton Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Otis came from a long line of commercial fishermen and continued enjoying fishing for pleasure throughout his life. He had many outings with family and friends and enjoyed talking about his many fishing trips adventures. Otis dearly loved his family and time spent with them.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, VA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #284, P.O. Box 57, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
