Otto “Sonny” Mraz, age 87, passed away at his home in Appleton on June 23, 2025. Sonny was born May 27, 1938, son of the late Otto and Adeline (Becker) Mraz. Otto was a union steamfitter forty-three years, working out of Local 206 in Fond du Lac and later Local 400 out of Kaukauna. He traveled to many states with his work, but his favorite was Alaska. After his retirement from steam fitting, he had a small business mowing lawns and snow removal. He enjoyed his time at the cottage in Door County and enjoyed his McDonald’s morning coffee with his buddies who have already passed away.
Survivors include his wife: Marlene Mraz; brothers Eugene (Karen) Mraz, LeRoy (Barb) Mraz, and Kenny Mraz; a son Mark Mraz and a daughter Michelle Mraz; a stepson James (Wendy) Walker; a step-granddaughter Stephanie (Jonathan) Gast, and two step-great-grandchildren James and Randi Gast. Sonny also has many grandchildren from a previous marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Darrin, and a stepdaughter Cindy.
Otto’s wishes were to be cremated with no formal service. His urn will be placed at Highland Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank all of Otto’s nurses and physicians, the entire ThedaCare Hospice team, as well as Cherry Meadows Hospice for their great compassion and care.
