Owen Stanley Enget was born in Powers Lake, ND on April 15, 1943. Owen passed away peacefully at Trinity Hospital with his family surrounding him on September 14, 2022. He was the fourth of five boys born to Oscar and Lillie (Ekberg) Enget.

Owen was raised on the family farm, south of Powers Lake, ND graduating from Powers Lake High School in 1961, where he excelled in basketball and football. After high school, Owen went to Minot State College where he played football. Unfortunately, he broke his leg during his freshman season, and he returned to the John Enget family homestead where he resided until the time of his death. Owen took off the fall quarters to help his dad while he was going to college. While in college he became an astute card and pool shark, while earning his teaching degree.

Owen student taught in Williston, ND and while there, he met his wife, Linda Aufforth, from Bowbells, ND who was teaching 3rd grade. They married on August 7, 1966. They were blessed with Melinda (1968), Jonathan (1972), and Kyle (1976).

Owen taught in Powers Lake and Grenora, where he also coached basketball and football. He was known to outrun his players after practice while in his cowboy boots. In 1978, he quit teaching to pursue his passion of farming and ranching. He continued to coach junior high basketball, B team basketball, and varsity assistant until Jonathan graduated from high school. He was an avid fan of all sports and all players.

Owen was a member of NDEA, the Stockman's Association, and the Angus Association. He served on the Powers Lake Ambulance Board and was instrumental in establishing the Powers Lake Rural Ambulance District. He loved his hometown and worked with Lake Housing Authority project to build seven new houses in town to bring young families to Powers Lake. He was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church and served on nearly every committee, especially the unofficial social committees!

Owen was very proud of his three grandsons and rarely missed any sporting event they were playing: football, basketball, or track. Attending the state track meet was an annual Enget tradition. One of his most cherished memories was attending the State Class B Basketball Tournament and cheering on the Ranchers and Grandsons, Terek and Tyson.
Owen will be remembered as a great guy who had a smile for everyone. He could be found at Cenex, at the Fire Hall playing cards, at a sporting event, or church discussing his favorite topics, which included his grandsons, the Vikings and Twins, farming, pinocle, Rook, and hunting. Reminiscing and telling stories with Dale, Merlyn, Harlis and anybody else who would listen was also a favorite pastime.

Owen was a man of strong faith and he showed it by the way he lived, encouraged, and loved others. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Linda, his children and grandchildren, and his many relatives and friends.

Blessed to have shared in his life are his wife, Linda; daughter, Melinda Madison; son, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Enget; grandsons, Tate, Terek, and Tyson; brother, Jerome (Brenda) Enget, sister-in-law, June (Gordon) Enget, and several nieces and nephews.

Owen was preceded in death by son Kyle; parents, Oscar and Lillie; brothers, Gordon, Wesley (Ardith), and Orlin.
